Fans have finally got their first look at The Last of Us Part II gameplay, where fans see both a compassionate and brutal side of Ellie.
The demo starts with a cinematic of Ellie in a survivors community, in which she shares a passionate moment with her partner, before the scene transitions to a much less wholesome scenario. The demo proceeds with Ellie facing off against the game’s radical religious cult somewhere out in the wilderness.
As the demo goes on and Ellie is shredding cult members apart, we learn about what is new and what has returned in the sequel’s survival gameplay. Part II features the same inventory UI and seamless noncontextual cover system as the previous game, but a new dodge function gives players more flexibility in close-quarters combat.
The full demo in all of its glory can be seen below.
The Last of Us Part II does not yet have a release date, but hopefully one will be announced before E3 is out.
