THE BUZZ: Move over Dancing with the Stars and Biggest Loser—the next level of reality shows is at hand!
Today, EA officially announced that it has teamed up with GTTV to produce Battlefield 3: Operation Gridiron, a new reality show airing this fall on Spike TV.
The concept? Four big names in football—quarterback Drew Brees, linebacker Clay Matthews, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, and defensive end Jared Allen-were whisked away to a “top secret location”, where they went through the “ultimate in combat training.” The purpose? To put them in real-life combat scenarios inspired by, of course, EA and DICE’s upcoming monster release Battlefield 3.
Battlefield 3: Operation Gridiron launches today, with webisodes airing everything Tuesday at 9:00am PDT on the Battlefield Facebook page (linked below). The finale will air on Spike TV on October 24th.
EGM’S TAKE: So, if this series wants to try to re-create the video game experience, will it have people jumping around while moving from place to place, hacking real life, and constantly yelling “fag” at the players?
