THE BUZZ: Recently, Sega hinted that another of their classic games would be returning—and by “hinted” I mean “basically told us that it’s Daytona USA“.
So today—to the surprise of absolutely nobody (except that one guy on the internet who thought it was going to be Fighters Megamix)—Sega announced that Daytona USA is coming to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
Not just coming, mind you—coming in only about two week’s time! Daytona USA will hit for PlayStation Network on October 25th, and for Xbox Live Arcade on the following day. The price? A cool $9.99 for PSN, 800 Microsoft Points for XBLA.
The new reworking of Daytona USA will feature widescreen visuals, online play, support for steering wheels, and… a karaoke mode. Yes, seriously.
EGM’s TAKE: I used to love playing Daytona USA in arcades, but when I got the game at home for Saturn, my passion for the game just wasn’t the same. I’m really curious to see not only how well the game holds up, but if online support will bring that certain something back that was lost in previous home ports.
