Veteran Call of Duty and God of War developers are teaming up on a new project that combines elements of beat ‘em ups, shoot ‘em ups, and action games titled To the Death, the studios announced today.
The two developers—Scary Mostro, a new studio formed by software engineer Francesco Giggliotti and game designer Todd Alderman, both of whom worked on Titan and Call of Duty, and “multi-disciplinary media solutions company” Section Studios—have turned to Kickstarter to fund the project, aiming for a $400,000 pledge goal.
To the Death sees players alternating between two warriors who, even in death, continue to their vendetta-fueled rivalry, battling out in a 2D side-scrolling landscape that players can freely fly around in, slashing and shooting through hordes of enemies. Early gameplay footage can be seen in the video embedded below, and more information on the project can be found on its Kickstarter page.
The two studios are shooting to deliver To the Death on Windows PC, Mac, and Linux through Steam by mid-2015. Achieving a $750,000 stretch goal would see the game brought to PS4 and Vita.
