Fortnite is kicking its arsenal into high gear with a new missile launcher coming to its Battle Royale mode, as well as a rumored tactical assault rifle expected to drop soon.
As the weapon we’re certain is coming, the new Guided Missile launcher was teased in the game’s latest New Updates message as “coming soon.” There isn’t much description of exactly how the missile launcher will operate, but the update message does say that it will bring “remote control destruction from above.”
If we had to guess it’s utility, based on this description, the weapon will likely operate similar to javelin rocket launcher, letting players target a location before shooting a rocket skyward and having it dive down from above. Its rarities are still a mystery, as is its launch date, but considering it’s labeled to be coming soon, players can likely expect to see it in the next week or two.
An image of the missile launcher, along with an image of the game’s new Power Chord outfit, can be seen below.
If a missile launcher wasn’t enough, players may soon be bolstering their loadout with a high-powered assault rifle. Reddit user OkamiMemoS recently posted an image to the site, which you can see below, of a new M4-looking assault rifle that they claim is coming to the game soon. While no other information was provided, the user purports that they got their information from the same source that leaked the recent release of the heavy shotgun.
Users below the post are speculating as to how the assault rifle will operate, with most contributors focused on its firing modes, scope focus, and rarity. One user claims that it will be a burst weapon, as an identical version of the weapon already exists in the game’s Save the World PvE mode, but equipment crossovers between the modes are not always consistent.
In other Fortnite news, a new Starter Pack recently launched for the game, letting more casual players get in on the cosmetic ground floor. The pack is a steal for only $5, but it’ll be gone after April 1st.
