Fortnite Battle Royale is immensely popular, and now it has the official numbers to prove it. According to the latest report from market research firm SuperData, Fortnite has officially become the largest free-to-play console game of all time.
According to the report, Fortnite generated $223 million across all platforms in the month of March alone, making it the biggest game in terms of revenue. That’s up 73 percent from February’s earnings. SuperData says that Fortnite Battle Royale’s season three Battle Pass, the Twitch team-up with rapper Drake, and an outfit referencing John Wick all contributed to the huge upswing in profits.
That’s not the end of Fornite‘s popularity, however. The game is also the largest free-to-play game in terms of monthly active users, with the “highest conversion rate” of any free-to-play PC game in March.
“There’s no other way to say it: the game is a phenomenon,” SuperData wrote.
Currently, Fortnite is wrapping up its third season in preparation for the launch of the fourth. Fortnite fans are also investigating the mystery of meteors, signs, and aliens appearing in the game, perhaps also in preparation for Season 4. Some reports hint that Fortnite may be headed to the Nintendo Switch, which could boost the game’s numbers to even more phenomenal heights.
