Epic Games has released the latest update for Fortnite on all platforms, bringing with it a new limited-time mode, a new item, and more.
The highlight of this week’s update is the High Stakes event. The event introduces the new Getaway limited-time mode, a new movement item, and new challenges to complete for rewards. The Getaway limited-time mode sees teams fighting over safes littered around the map that contain a jewel. Once a team has cracked open a safe and procured the jewel they must head to the nearest getaway van and escape with it.
Also added in this update is the Grappler, a new grappling hook item that can be found in Vending Machines, floor loot, Treasure Chests, Supply Drops, and Supply Llamas, and has 15 charges. Once all charges are used up the item will be discarded.
A number of changes have also been made to items, including the removal of the common suppressed submachine gun, the rare rocket launcher, the legendary bolt-action sniper rifle, and the rare pistol.
For Save the World players, there’s a new weekly Horde Challenge, numerous mission reward improvements, a new hero, and a plethora of performance improvements.
