Epic Games has pushed live update 5.2 for Fortnite that includes changes to both Save the World and Battle Royale.
On the Battle Royale side of the game, players get a brand-new double barrel shotgun. This new weapon can be found in floor loot, chests, supply drops, and vending machines, and is available in epic and legendary variants. According to the developer, the double barrel shotgun “delivers high burst damage at very close range but damage falls off heavily at distance.”
There’s also a new limited-time mode on the way called Steady Storm. This new mode features a storm that slowly closes in over the course of 15 minutes with no safe zone circles.
Other changes for Battle Royale include vending machine balance adjustments, a reduction in the max stack size of C4, and a new Challenges menu that displays available challenges while in a match.
While on the Save the World side, players get new weekly horde challenges, tighter required power ratings for Canny, Twine, and Challenge the Horde, and a new Mythic Ragnarok Outlander hero.
