Epic Games has pushed update 4.5 live for Fortnite on all platforms, bringing with it a new limited-time mode, a new weapon, and more.
Kicking things off for Battle Royale players is the previously announced Playground limited-time mode. This new mode lets players drop onto the island with up to three friends to practice their building and tactics. In this new mode, friendly fire is enabled, players will instantly respawn upon death, resource gathering is at 10x the normal rate, 100 Llamas will spawn on the map, and all chests and ammo boxes will be spawned.
Alongside this new mode, Epic has introduced the Dual Pistols. This new weapon is available in Epic and Legendary variants and can be found in floor loot, chests, and Supply Drops.
Finally, the Tactical SMG and Silenced SMG have both been buffed with increased accuracy and damage.
On the Save the World side of things, players get the final part of the Blockbuster questline, the option to research specific heroes and weapons using the Collection Book, the ability to unslot things from the Collection Book, two new heroes, and a brand-new enemy type called the Super Shielder.
