Forza 5 Day-one Update Not Required to Play the Game

Posted on July 22, 2013 AT 04:05am

Turn 10′s Dan Greenawalt has corrected his earlier statement on Forza 5‘s day-one update by stating that the game will be playable even if you don’t download it, however you will not be able to complete it.

A previous statement by Greenawalt himself seemed to suggest that the update would be required to play the game. However he has now clarified to IGN that this is ”not the plan,” and the game will be at least partially playable before it is downloaded.

“This download is simply additional cars and tracks. The gameplay is not blocked while downloading the additional content; it’s done in the background just like disc install,” he said. Greenawalt added that if players don’t download the update they ”won’t be blocked from playing the game,” however they will be unable to complete it.

“Deeper areas in the career mode were designed to utilize these additional cars and tracks,” he added.
