Not too long ago, a supposedly leaked image of a Warthog and Covenant ship in Forza Horizon 4 had fans believing a Halo-themed event was being planned for the game. It seems players can now officially get excited because the rumors have turned out to be true.

During this year’s Gamescom, Playground Games gave a private presentation of the upcoming racing title, revealing it will feature a mission with several Halo references. Creative director Ralph Fulton gave attendees a first look at the mission in question.

As described in IGN‘s report, the quest will be accessible as a Showcase event on the player’s map. When the event is activated, a cutscene will play that will reveal Master Chief as the driver of the leaked image’s Warthog. Players will then take control of the iconic vehicle and race on Northumberland beach to keep up with a Pelican. Attacking Banshees will attempt to deter progress, while a crumbling Halo ring will act as a ticking clock for the event. Fulton also revealed that Cortana will provide commentary during the drive.

No screenshots or clips were shared, but the report did confirm that the Halo mission will be available to play more than once. However, it’s unclear when players will have access to it during the campaign.

With the Halo crossover now confirmed, perhaps there’s a possibility that more vehicles from the shooter franchise will be available in Forza Horizon 4. Granted, using a Ghost in a high-octane race might not be the best idea.

Forza Horizon 4 is set to launch for Xbox One and PC on October 2nd.
