Announced at E3 as an ‘accessory’ game of sorts to EVE Online, DUST 514 not only looks like it could be quite interesting in the way it connects to EVE, but the game is also supposed to be free to play.

Except, now, a representative from CCP Games has clarified that the game will actually have a cover charge in the range of $10~$20.

However, this initial access fee will then be returned to the player in the way of in-game currency that can be used for the various micro-transactions that will be featured in the game.

CCP’s CEO Hilmar Veigar Ptursson told GamesIndustry.biz that it’s possible that, after the initial launch of DUST 514, the game may later move to being completely free to play.
