Friday the 13th

In response to an ongoing debate in the Friday the 13th: The Game‘s forums, co-developer Gun Media has revealed a variant color of Part V Jason will be available soon.

As part of the next major update to the survival horror game, players will have the option of either green or blue coveralls for the Part V Jason skin. As green was the original color option introduced in the game, it will remain as the default choice, with blue acting as a secondary option. Both can be seen in the image from Gun Media below.

Recently, when players weren’t hunting one another in the game, there was a heated debate in the game’s official forums as to whether Part V Jason’s coveralls should be green or blue. According to Gun Media in a recent forum post, many community members shared screenshots from the movie trying to prove which color is correct. In turn, the development team went on a hunt to find costumers and memorabilia owners tied to the Part V film to find any definitive color options. Ultimately, the team followed up on a lead of ‘spruce green’ and tried to faithfully recreate the movie’s color to appease all players. However, that proved to be a fool’s errand. Instead of making one color the only option, the team has instead made two versions of the outfit for players to choose between.

Interestingly, the murderer featured in A New Beginning isn’t even Jason. In the film, a copycat killer named Roy Burns is out for vengeance after his estranged son is killed by a teen staying at a halfway house. While the debate over coverall colors may never end, at least we know Jason isn’t really a part of the fiasco.

It hasn’t been announced when the next update will arrive, but for now, players can experience other pieces of new content introduced recently. Several new counselor characters were added alongside the Part V killer, as well as the Pinehurst Youth Development Center map. In a bold move, every iteration of Jason was also tweaked in the last update to overpower counselor players. Jason can also now swap out weapons and tools during a match.

Friday the 13th: The Game is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
