From Dust Sold Well, But No Plans for a Sequel

THE BUZZ: In a recently-published interview with Eurogamer, From Dust lead developer Eric Chahi revealed that while the Summer of Arcade hit “sold very well,” he currently has no plans for a sequel.
“I would love to do another From Dust,” Chahi stated, “but right now there is no plan. And also, I have a strong desire to create something very original.”
Additionally, Chahi told Eurogamer that he would like to release his next project in a relatively shorter amount of time.
“One year would be great,” Chahi continued, “but knowing me, well, I’m going to plan one year and it will end up as two.”
EGM’s TAKE: From Dust is exactly the type of game that is poised to garner fevered reverence in the years to come. It sold well enough to warrant a sequel, yet it was sorely misunderstood by some critics. Now, all it needs is a poorly-worded online petition to cement its status as a cult hit.
