DICE won’t be developing Wii U games using the Frostbite engine due to “not too promising results” while testing the engine on Nintendo’s console.

Following news of EA and Disney’s partnership regarding Star Wars licensed video games, DICE technical director Johan Andersson tweeted that the Star Wars games made by DICE and Visceral would utilize the Frostbite engine.

A comment from another Twitter user about Frostbite 3 being functional on Wii U, but halted, Andersson clarified by stating, “FB3 has never been running on Wii U. We did some tests with not too promising results with FB2 and chose not to go down that path.”

This marks the second occasion that an EA Dice employee declared the Wii U’s powerful as insufficient for the Frostbite engine. In March, Battlefield executive producer Patrick Bach told Eurogamer that “Wii u is not a part of our [DICE’s] focus right now.”
