One month anniversaries aren’t typically cause for celebration, but developer Funcom seems quite proud of the recent release of modern-era MMO adventure The Secret World. Hence, there’s going to be a weeklong celebration with special events tied to the game’s world, capping off with a “free-to-play” weekend that’s open to all users, everywhere.
According to their official announcement, the celebration week is open to current players and anyone else who wants to create a new account to see what all the fuss is about:
We want to share the joy with as many people as possible! Any player, who has any type of The Secret World account, may join us over the weekend to celebrate our first month! Early Access, Inactive Accounts, and Beta Accounts may all join in! If you do not currently have an account for The Secret World, you may register to participate starting today, Friday, July 27th, to have open access to this special celebration weekend! You can find the celebration event registration on the right side of the official website!
In addition to the events, Funcom will also release the game’s first monthly content update, “The Secret World: Issue 1“, on July 31st. Extra missions will be part of the update, along with access to the Marketplace, where players will be able to trade, barter, and sell items to each other.
From August 3rd to August 7th, Funcom will also host 30 in-game missions that will reward players with special in-game T-shirts and “1200 bonus points” upon completion. A weekend-exclusive leaderboard devoted to the festivities will be active from August 3rd to August 7th, just to make things a little more competitive for all the hardcore players.
