Just Cause

Despite falling off the radar recently, Square Enix’s Just Cause film is still inbound, with Game of Thrones and Justice League actor Jason Momoa now confirmed for the role of lead character Rico Rodriguez.

Momoa’s casting was reported by Variety, along with the announcement that the movie will be headed by San Andreas director Brad Peyton. This is not the first time Momoa and Peyton have worked together as the two were involved with the popular Netflix series Frontier. The film’s script will reportedly be tackled by Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World‘s John Collee.

As for Just Cause‘s plot details, Momoa’s character will be working for the shady government network known only as “The Agency,” just as Rodriguez does in the game series. No more specifics are currently available, including on the planned release window.

Several other major gaming properties have been making headlines lately with respective film adaptations, including the upcoming Tomb Raider film and currently contentious Uncharted movie.

Nick didn’t start gaming until mid-2006. Once his parents finally allowed a console into the house, it was all uphill from there. Starting out with a PS2, he grew an affinity for Sony consoles and moved on to the PS3, and now the PS4. He keeps his gaming palette wide, but, gun to his head, he’d have to say shooters are his genre of choice. Find him on Twitter @idole808
