Dead or Alive 5

Tecmo Koei and Team Ninja are still hiding some secrets in Dead or Alive 5, with characters in the roster still unannounced just a month away from the game’s launch. It’s not just the DOA crew either, as some Virtua Fighter stars might be in the mix.

Famitsu pressed Team Ninja’s Yousuke Hayashi about the issue, where he admitted that there were more characters from both games that wouldn’t be announced until after the release date:

It’s still early, actually (laughs). Since there are some characters that are unlocked as you move through the game, I do not have to expose them all before the launch.

Famitsu: Are the characters unannounced from the DOA system or VF system? 

Well … we might have both.

Currently, the roster sits at 20 DOA characters and two Virtua Fighter guest stars in Akira and Sarah Bryant.

If it turns out Dead or Alive 5 has more fighters in the ranks before release, it’s possible that they could be downloadable content. Should be that be the case, it’s hopefully no-charge, since competitor Tekken Tag Tournament 2 packs in a lot of free extras.
