Killzone

It’s been over a year since a brand-new Killzone title was confirmed for the franchise, but that was way back when Sony still had the PlayStation Vita codenamed as the “NGP” device. Now, Sony has announced that we have an official moniker for the game in question, Killzone Mercenary.

During their Gamescom 2012 press conference, Sony showed of a quick sizzle reel of the game in action, complete with the glowing eyeballs of Helghast soldiers.

Judging by the footage, the PS Vita title will use a heavy amount of swiping action on the front screen and rear panel for combat moves, most likely for melee kills and stabbing motions.

While former Killzone titles had been developed by Guerrilla Games, those duties are now headed up by Sony Cambridge. Based on the long history of press releases and previews, Killzone Mercenary has been in the works for at least two years.
