Gamescom 2012: Wikipad Meets Requirements For PlayStation Mobile
Posted on August 14, 2012 AT 02:15pm
Sony will be spreading their mobile franchises suite to a new portable device, as the PlayStation Mobile library has been certified for the upcoming games-centric Wikipad tablet. It’ll be an interesting partnership for both companies, as the Wikipad is aiming itself directly at competition with major gadgets like the iPad and the Google Nexus 7 tablet.
Currently, the PlayStation Mobile suite hosts over a few dozen games, most of which are classic PS One titles and ported version of older releases.
Some of the highlights in the lineup include Grandia, Crash Bandicoot, Tekken, the Cool Boarders games, and Wild Arms.
There’s quite a bit of crossover with the PS One Classics list, which was also announced earlier today for a rollout to the PlayStation Vita starting August 28th. Playing PlayStation games on an Android tablet isn’t anything groundbreaking, as several homebrew apps and emulators give players the ability to load up .ISO files of their favorite PS1 titles.
No set release date for the Wikipad has been announced, but it will try to distinguish itself by nature of its controller attachment and high-end specs.
Aside from a 10.1-inch screen, the Wikipad also boasts an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core 1.4GHz processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a minimum of 16GB storage, plus Android’s new 4.1 Jelly Bean interface and operating system.
