Gearbox President Wants To Make More Duke Nukem Games

Gearbox stepped in and did the impossible when they got a finished version of Duke Nukem Forever out the door after 14 years of development. Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford doesn’t want Duke’s reign to stop there, however.

“I willingly and lovingly acquired the brand. When I did that, I wasn’t thinking that the only goal is just to make sure everyone could play Duke Nukem Forever,” Pitchford said during a video segment with IGN. “The real goal for me is I’d like to build a Duke Nukem game again.”

Not surprising, as picking up the rights to Duke Nukem just to release a game most already expected to be doomed wouldn’t seem to make much sense. Pitchford then went on to say that what Gearbox would do with Duke would be “a little different” than what was done in Duke Nukem Forever, and that he looks forward to seeing what they could do with the series.
