God of War

An upcoming God of War comic by Dark Horse Comics will follow our favorite god-killing duo before they set out on their mountainous expedition, and we just got our first look at the premier issue.

In a recent post to the PlayStation Blog, Dark Horse writer Chris Roberson describes his thoughts when he was first approached to do a God of War prequel comic, and the challenges he anticipated in taking on the feat. Fortunately, with help from everyone at developer Sony Santa Monica, the project began to take shape.

Thankfully, everyone involved with the project from my artistic collaborator Tony Parker to the editorial team at Dark Horse to Cory Barlog and the rest of the team at Santa Monica Studio really showed up and helped bring the story to life. I had the basic outline of the plot worked out in the course of my first conversation with Spencer Cushing at Dark Horse, who was the one who originally approached me about the project, but it took some time to work out if it made sense in terms of the continuity of the new game.

Fans can get a sneak peak at what’s in store for the comic from the two pages included in the Blog post. Additional images from the adventure can also be found in the post.

This comic will be the first in a series exploring events before the story of God of War that launched earlier this year. This first issue will drop November 14th.

Nick didn’t start gaming until mid-2006. Once his parents finally allowed a console into the house, it was all uphill from there. Starting out with a PS2, he grew an affinity for Sony consoles and moved on to the PS3, and now the PS4. He keeps his gaming palette wide, but, gun to his head, he’d have to say shooters are his genre of choice. Find him on Twitter @idole808
