The debut game from Panache Digital Games is releasing in 2019, and it lets gamers play as a monkey.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey puts players into the world of, as the title suggests, the ancestors of humankind: gorilla-like primates who must survive to advance their clan to each new generation.
“Our debut game Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a third person open world survival game that will bring players to Explore, Expand and Evolve to advance their clan to the next generation in the harsh, ruthless, yet beautiful land of Africa starting 10 million years ago,” the game’s description on Panache’s website reads.
Ancestors was first announced and teased way back at E3 2015, with a second teaser at Reboot Develop in 2017, but The Game Awards 2018 brought us our first glimpse of actual gameplay. The trailer showed our primate protagonist fighting giant snakes and mountain lions, slinging younger primates across his or her back, and seeming to slowly gain the use of more tools and more bipedal movement over time.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is set to release sometime in 2019.
