As part of Bethesda’s E3 2019 showcase, The Evil Within studio Tango Gameworks announced its next project: Ghostwire Tokyo. Billed as an action-adventure game set in a present-day Tokyo full of spirits, some evil and some helpful. Beyond that, though, the specifics seem a bit mysterious.
Here’s the official synopsis from the teaser trailer:
After strange disappearances hit Tokyo’s population, it’s up to you to uncover the source and purge the city of a strange, new evil. Armed with your own mysterious spectral abilities, you will face down the occult, unravel conspiracy theories and experience urban legends like never before.
And here’s the trailer itself:
We’ll definitely be playing as that bow-carrying, shockwave-blasting modern urban ninja, and it looks like the world will draw in quite a bit of Japanese folklore, but beyond that your guess is as good as ours. No info on release dates or target platforms, but given the vagueness of this tease, the absence of in-game footage, and how early the promotional push seems, we wouldn’t be shocked if this one is destined for next-gen consoles.
