Girl Gamer reports the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles and Women in Games International are teaming up to create a merit badge for game design.
The badge can be earned by using E-line’s Gamestar Mechanic and working with Women in Games International to build games in line with the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) academic initiative.
“Our ultimate goal is to create a STEM-aligned videogame badge for the Girl Scouts of the United States of America,” said Amy Allison, Women in Games International’s vice president. “Creating this badge will get young girls excited in technology and science and let them know that they, too, can have a career in the videogame industry.”
The collaboration comes partly in response to the Boy Scouts of America adding a similar program and merit badge in March.
