Highly-stylized shooter Drawn to Death finally has a release date: April 4th.

David Jaffe, who previously created the God of War and Twisted Metal series, offered fans a look inside the game with the latest video on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel.

“There are lots of hero shooters popping up these days, but Drawn to Death is unique,” Jaffe said. “Obviously it looks unique, but also—and more importantly—it feels unique.”

He explained that most of this uniqueness comes from the game’s long “time to kill.” Instead of dying and respawning quickly in a firefight, players under attack will have more of a chance to run away and use their map knowledge and strategy to turn the fight around.

While the game has its own roster of unique characters, Jaffe emphasized that the game design is focused around mechanics rather than story.

“Yes, the game has story and characters, but Drawn to Death is so much more about play mechanics—more than any other game I’ve done,” Jaffe said. “I think you see that trajectory away from storytelling and toward pure mechanics in the games I’ve gotten to work on since God of War.”

Drawn to Death is a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
