In a post on the PlayStation Blog, God of War 2 director Cory Barlog announced his return to Sony Santa Monica after leaving the studio in 2007.

Most of Barlog’s post is dedicated to his various adventures after laying the ground work for God of War III‘s design and story, which includes “working on a game concept on the deck of a yacht in Monte Carlo,” collaborating with George Miller on a Mad Max game, and hanging out with George Lucas.

As for what he’s up to now that he’s returned to Sony Santa Monica?

“What am I working on, you ask?  Good question.  Sadly, I cannot tell you…yet,” Barlog wrote in the post. ” But I can say that it is freaking huge, and it will live up to the standards that I helped establish here at SMS.  We’re putting together a team as I type this, an Ocean’s 11 kind of thing. We are searching the world high and low for the best of the BEST to come and be on the ground floor of this endeavor.”

It’s unclear whether Barlog is working on the same project Dark Angel, Battlestar Galactica, and Caprica writer Michael Angeli teased his involvement with during San Diego Comic-Con. Seems likely, though, since that’s the only unannounced project Sony Santa Monica has teased.

The Studio is also collaborating with Ready at Dawn on The Order: 1886.
