God of War

Alongside the long-overdue announcement of God of War‘s release date, Sony also detailed the game’s various pre-order incentives and special editions.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, God of War director Cory Barlog announced all the bonus content players can take advantage of when the game launches in April. Fans that pre-order any edition of the game through a supporting retailer can download several unique shield skins, and those that pre-order from GameStop or EB Games will also earn the Luck of Ages XP Talisman, which provides increased XP gain, increased Hacksilver gain, and an increased ability to trigger Perks.

A number of special editions of the game can be pre-ordered, the prices and contents of which were also detailed in the post. The game’s Collector’s Edition will run gamers $129.99, while the previously announced Stone Mason Edition will cost $149.99.

The two editions feature nearly the same content—a 9″ Kratos Statue, extra digital content, etc.—with the only bonus to picking up the Stone Mason Edition being a collection of God of War–themed trinkets, like a ring and keychain, and an in-game shield. An additional $20 seems like a lot to ask for said trinkets, but many collectors will likely see them as must-haves.

For God of War fans not interested in physical knick-knacks, a Digital Deluxe Edition will also be available. Going for $69.99, this special edition features the same digital bonuses as the other two editions, including a digital artbook, a digital comic, a dynamic theme, the Death’s Vow armor set, and the Exile’s Guardian shield. To not be totally left out of the physical goodies, pre-ordering the Digital Deluxe Edition will also get gamers in the U.S. and Canada an exclusive God of War pin.

After way too much waiting, we now know the PlayStation 4–exclusive God of War will arrive April 20th, 2018. The date was revealed in a new story trailer for the game, featuring some of the enemies and allies Kratos and his son will encounter on their journey.
