God of War‘s immeasurable cache of secrets includes an unexpected and surprisingly extensive nod to the Marvel cinematic universe.

The Easter egg involves an homage to the newly launch Avengers: Infinity War film. While the secret has nothing in the way of spoilers for the movie, some footage of the secret does take place in the later parts of God of War, so if you don’t want any part of the game spoiled for you, turn back now.

Spoilers follow.

Over the course of God of War, Kratos will collect mystical artifacts called Talismans, giving the antihero unique abilities, and these artifacts can often be equipped with collectible enchantments. As discovered by Reddit user moxxxxxi, one particular Talisman seems a clear reference to the Infinity Gauntlet used by Infinity War‘s antagonist, Thanos. When the Talisman—named the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages (wink, wink)—is equipped with any three of six Infinity Stone-like enchantments, it unlocks a power suspiciously reminiscent of those wielded by Thanos.

The six enchantments are listed below, along with their corresponding Infinity Stones. The Talisman can only sport three of the enchantments at a time, and only after being fully upgraded.

  • Andvari’s Soul – Soul Stone
  • Njord’s Temporal Stone – Time Stone
  • Eye of the Outer Realm – Space Stone
  • Ivaldi’s Corrupted Mind – Mind Stone
  • Asgard’s Shard of Existence – Reality Stone
  • Muspelheim Eye of Power – Power Stone

moxxxxxi demonstrates the wannabe Infinity Gauntlet in a video on the Reddit post, which can be seen below. Other players report that the color of the attack will change based on the equipped assortment of Stones (that is, enchantments).

Developer Santa Monica Studio is definitely getting its kicks out of these secrets hidden in every corner of this new game. The previous mystery uncovered by the community took the cloth map included in a special edition of the game just to figure out, but now that the process is common knowledge, any player can complete it to reap the secret’s reward.

God of War is now available, exclusively on PlayStation 4.
