God of War

There are innumerable secrets hidden around every corner of the new God of War, and while the community has been very proficient at finding them, one sizable secret apparently still eludes us.

In an interview with Gaming Bolt, game director Cory Barlog discussed the many secrets that can be discovered in God of War. Some of the secrets aren’t even solely isolated to the game itself, like the two Barlog discusses below.

“I really, really believed the sweet live-action game I put into the collector’s edition would be something that would take players a while to figure out,” Barlog said. “I think the only thing they didn’t figure out is that the two toy pieces of Brok and Sindri have little markings on the bottom of them, and the intent was to actually put them on the correct position on the map, and to have them walk the journey. So people didn’t realize that you could have them walk that journey on the map, and then reach that point, and that between them, that secret treasure was hidden. And I love that secret, and I had to keep it secret from most of the team, simply because I knew, the more people knew about it, the easier it would be to leak.”

While nearly all of the game’s secrets have been uncovered, Barlog reveals that there still remains one that players have yet to find, as far as he has heard. He doesn’t spill the beans on this secret, thankfully, but he does give us a hint.

“I still think there is one thing that no one has found yet that I know for certain, because I haven’t seen any stories about it. Now I’m not going to tell you what that is, but I don’t know if there’s any cinematics per se, it seems like people have been able to get all the permutations. Not one person, but everyone collectively.”

Now that the jig is up, it shouldn’t take long for the community to piece the secret together, particularly considering the popularity of the game, with God of War currently on track to amassing 1 billion views on YouTube faster than any game before it.

Nick didn’t start gaming until mid-2006. Once his parents finally allowed a console into the house, it was all uphill from there. Starting out with a PS2, he grew an affinity for Sony consoles and moved on to the PS3, and now the PS4. He keeps his gaming palette wide, but, gun to his head, he’d have to say shooters are his genre of choice. Find him on Twitter @idole808
