After months of teasing us, a release date for God of War‘s New Game Plus mode has finally been announced.
In a recent post on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that God of War‘s New Game Plus option will launch in a free update on August 20th. The game’s campaign will have to have been completed at least once on any difficulty to access NGP.
God of War‘s NG+ will restart the player’s journey with all of their armor, enchantments, talismans, resources, and abilities from the previous playthrough. The new playthrough can be enjoyed on any difficulty, but enemies will be a higher level than the first run, and will even wield some new attacks. NG+ will also offer the new Skap Slag resource, which allows players to upgrade and craft gear to a new rarity level, and new customization options will give Kratos even more of an edge in battle. Those looking for a purely combative experience the second time around will additionally have the new option to skip cutscenes.
There are no doubt an innumerable number of us looking forward to this update, considering how many of us now own it. God of War is currently the fastest selling PlayStation game ever, and for all of those who beat it, this update is our excuse for a second run through.
