God of War

God of War recently hit a sales milestone, becoming the fastest-selling game ever to launch exclusively on PlayStation 4.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, God of War sold 3.1 million units globally in its first three days of sale, spanning April 20th to April 22nd. This puts it on track to potentially topple Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End as the best selling PlayStation 4 exclusive, which has sold around 8.7 million units but has also be on the market for two years.

Santa Monica Studio head Shannon Studstill responded to God of War‘s sales news with a message to the fans:

I would like to personally thank the millions of fans around the world who decided to embark on Kratos’ latest adventure with us. Your support is truly inspiring, and it’s a reason why we push ourselves every day to go beyond the boundaries of play. I’d also like to thank our Creative Director, Cory Barlog, and Director of Product Development, Yumi Yang and our entire amazing team at Santa Monica Studio. The belief in the game’s vision and the passion for storytelling across the team is undeniable. We look forward to hearing more about how fans are creating new memories of their favorite God of War gameplay moments that will be remembered for a long time.

It seems appropriate for God of War to be the fastest selling PS4-exclusive game, considering it is also the highest rated PS4-exclusive game, with a current Metacritic aggregate score of 94 out of 100. This admirable score prompted some heavy emotions from game director Cory Barlog, who posted a video online of his tearful reaction to the score.

God of War is now available, exclusively on PS4. Despite how good the game already is, the developer is adamant about improving it at every opportunity, with several future updates planned for the game.
