God of War

The Game Awards 2018 have come to a close with an unexpected winner for the top prize. Despite Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 claiming the most awards of the night, it was Sony’s God of War that nabbed the Game of the Year award. Still, all around a good night for games whose protagonists say “boy” way too much.

In all, Rockstar’s Western took home four prizes, while God of War won three. Fortnite and Celeste both walked away with two awards each.

In addition to the awards, The Game Awards 2018 featured plenty of high profile reveals, though most viewers probably weren’t too surprised, given the leaks and teases that had telegraphed many. Still, we got good first looks at a new Dragon Age title, Mortal Kombat XI, Far Cry New Dawn, and Obsidian’s definitely-not-FalloutNewVegas2 game The Outer Worlds, in addition to a slew of other trailers and announcements.
