Believe it or not, Back to the Future mods aren’t anything new to Grand Theft Auto games, with several PC adds-ons hitting multiple titles in the series. But this one’s special for a quite a few awesome reasons.
As broken down in this highlight reel from YouTube user seedyrom34, the famous time-traveling Delorean functions much like the real, fictional vehicle would, running on plutonium to power its fusion reactor.
Aside from that, the Delorean also has a few other features that blow previous imitators out of the water:
- A Marty McFly Skin
- Full interior modeling for the Delorean
- Functioning time circuits
- Refillable plutonium chamber
- Date control via your keyboard’s number pad
- Real time-travel effects
Of course, the GTA IV Hill Valley mod won’t do anything as ridiculous as send you back to Vice City to change the history of the game. However, the time-travel effect still proves to be a neat gameplay mechanic.
Once you hit 88 miles per hour, the Delorean will “phase” out, then pop back in time with an explosion and fire trail. Time it just right, and you can use the car’s momentum to time-jump right though barricades and traffic stops.
