Rockstar have posted a new viral (is it still viral if they post it?) video for Grand Theft Auto V promoting the return of San Andreas’ fictional, Scientology parodying religious cult, The Epsilon Program.
The video (seen below) runs through a list of the cult’s tenets—many of which are pretty goddamn funny—but the biggest takeaway (provided you’re desperate for any in-game look at GTA V you can get) is what looks to be in-game shots of a location you’ll no doubt be able to visit in Grand Theft Auto V . There’s also an Epsilon-related character model that slides across the screen at about the 2:30 mark.
My memory of San Andreas is shaky at best, but if I had to guess the aforementioned character model is of Cris Formage, leader of the Epsilon Program.
Oh, and Kifflom? That’s Epsilon’s deity. Think Scientology’s Xenu—dictator of the “Galactic Confederacy” who, according to Wikipedia, brought billions of his people to Earth, stuck them near some volcanoes, and killed them off using hydrogen bombs.
Ain’t religion fun? As far as I’m concerned, this is no more or less absurd than the beliefs of other “more established” organized religions.
Point is: Looks like Epsilon will be returning, along with a lot of San Andreas’ charming elements, in Grand Theft Auto V.
