Rockstar will not be attending Gamescom this year to show off Grand Theft Auto V.
Speculation over the game making an appearance at the show began after footage of the title was spotted in a sizzle video released a few weeks ago. “Rockstar Games is not scheduled and has never been scheduled to exhibit at Gamescom 2012,” said Franko Fischer, communications manager of Gamescom’s organizing body Koelnmesse. “We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.”
So it turns out that the footage was added in error, which is a little disappointing considering that it’s one of the last major shows of the year. This news pretty much cements the game for a 2013 release at the earliest.
