Guacamelee! Coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Spring 2014

Posted on December 20, 2013 AT 11:36am

Drinkbox Studios’ lucha libre–inspired  2D Metroidvania title Guacamelee! is coming to next-gen consoles with new content and updated visuals, IGN reports.

Designer Chris McQuinn informed IGN that the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Guacamelee! will contain two new worlds, new enemy types, “a chicken-bomb ability,” and improved visuals with better particle effects.

In addition to the next-gen presence of Guacamelee!, the studio is also working on a mobile title that will sport “a grittier art style and more serious storytelling” as well as a touch-based battle system.

Guacamelee! debuted on PS3 and Vita in April and was later ported to Windows PC in August. For more on Drinkbox’s delightful 2D side-scroller/beat ‘em up/platformer, check out my review of the Vita version.

Update: IGN has since removed the link to their report.
