Several Guild Wars 2 players have been banned for taking advantage of an exploit that surfaced during the MMO’s holiday event.

The exploit allowed players to craft an item using one ectoplasm and then salvage the item to get two ectoplasm back. As you can imagine this led to the ectoplasm market being destroyed. ArenaNet has taken swift action against these exploiters. “Any time you take one thing and can make two, and then four, and then 16 – ya gotta know that’s just wrong,” support liaison Gaile Gray wrote on the game’s forums.

“And to perform that action hundreds and hundreds of times? That’s called exploitation, and that’s against the User Agreement, the Rules of Conduct, and all that is holy.”
