ArenaNet has announced that Guild Wars 2′s first content update, Shadow of the Mad King, will be out next week, bringing with it plenty of Halloween mischief.

The content goes live on October 22 and will transform Tyria until the end of the month with decorations, new mini-games, and dynamic events. “Be prepared for an epic adventure in four acts starting 22nd October and running until 31st October,” the developer teased.

“Halloween has a long history in Tyria, and in times past was always marked by the spirit of Mad King Thorn cavorting among the people unleashing his own brand of insanity,” it added. “However, it’s been over 250 years since he was last seen, and for most people he is merely a figure of folklore. Despite this, rumors persist among the populace that something wicked this way comes.”

The Black Lion Trading Company will also be stocked with Halloween costumes and transformations to get you into the festive spirit. On top of all this the update includes paid PvP tournaments, new events, puzzles, bosses, and achievements.
