Sven Co-op, a two player mod for the original Half-Life, has been granted a stand-alone release on Steam by Valve.

The mod will be available for free and will not require the original Half-Life to play. Valve has also given the team access to its new update delivery system SteamPipe and full access to the game’s original engine. The Sven Co-op team said that this will allow them to create “much larger and more detailed worlds,” and increase the game’s stability.

“We are grateful beyond expression to Valve for their generosity and efforts put forth to make this possible. We’re looking forward to working with one of the greatest game engines ever made, and we can assure everyone that there are many, many more updates to come,” the team said in a statement.
