Halo 4 Crimson Map Pack Causing Some Players to Get Banned

Posted on December 17, 2012 AT 05:23am

A workaround posted by Microsoft to help players who were having trouble gaining access to their free copy of the Halo 4 Crimson Map Pack has caused some accounts to be banned.

Halo 4: Limited Edition and Season Pass holders were supposed to be able to download the DLC for free, but were still be charged. Microsoft then offered a workaround for the issue, however, now players are complaining of being banned from certain aspects of the game’s multiplayer component after using this workaround.

The Halo 4 forums ban thread is filled with complaints by users who found themselves banned for no reason after downloading the map pack and playing online. A forum moderator offered the following:

“We are not permanently banning players for previewing or purchasing the Crimson Map Pack. We are currently investigating the recent reports of permanent matchmaking bans.

“We will provide further updates tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.”
