The upcoming Crimson Map Pack isn’t the only changes coming to Halo 4‘s online multilayer, as a new mode and other updates have been revealed today.
Over on official Halo website Halo Waypoint, news has come out that when the Crimson Map Pack hits on December 10th, it’ll be joined by a new gameplay type for all players: Extraction. Extraction will be available in Multiplayer Matching, and will be “a 5 vs. 5 objective-based game type where opposing Spartan teams are tasked with extracting assets from various sites around the map.”
As well, the folks at 343 Industries detailed some other changes that are coming up next week for Halo 4‘s multiplayer. They note that SWAT has proven to be very popular, so it’ll be sticking around for at least another weekly rotation; however, FFA Throwback will be taken out, and replaced by Team Regicide.
“Team Regicide is an all-new game mode in Halo 4, and it is a much different experience from the FFA version,” the posting on Halo Waypoint notes. “The leading player from each team is crowned King and is worth a fixed 25 points to the other team; this makes protecting your King just as important as killing the enemy leader.”
Team Regicide will be playable on Haven, Adrift, Complex, Solace, and Abandon, and will feature the following:
- “Several” medals
- A unique announcer voice
- Heavy teamwork-focused gameplay
Here are the settings for Team Regicide:
- Teams: 4 vs. 4
- Score to Win: 750
- King Logic: Leading player [medal points] from each team
- Regicide Points: 25 Fixed
- Execution Points: 15
- King Power-ups: Enabled
- Time Limit: 12 Minutes
