THE BUZZ: Following earlier rumors, Microsoft and 343 Industries have confirmed the official release date of Halo 4.

The game will release worldwide on November 6th, 2012 exclusively for the Xbox 360. The game is set to be the first in new a trilogy for the series, with 343 taking over from series creator Bungie.

Halo 4 is set four years after the events of Halo 3, and sees Master Chief return to confront his destiny and face an ancient evil.

“We are beginning a new saga with Halo 4 and embarking on a journey that will encompass the next decade of Halo games and experiences,” Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer said. “Millions of fans worldwide have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to step back into the boots of Master Chief, and with Halo 4 leading the charge, we’re confident 2012 will be the most successful year in Xbox history.”

Check out the video below of the Red team trying to figure out how best to remember the release date. Warning—it involves some complex math.

EGM’s TAKE: Well, the waiting is over, and we now have an official date nailed down for Halo 4. Now, let the waiting begin for the game’s actual release. Everyone is incredibly tentative with 343 behind the helm instead of Bungie, but we have every faith that the team can deliver a fantastic game that will develop the franchise even further. We already know that Master Chief will be sporting a new look, but will they change anything else about this beloved hero? We’ll find out November.

Which parts of the franchise would you like 343 to keep and which should be changed? Leave your thoughts below.
