Joseph Staten, former Halo series and Destiny writer, is now serving as senior creative director at Microsoft Studios after leaving Bungie back in September “to tackle new creative challenges.”

News of Staten’s move to Microsoft Studios was announced by Microsoft studio manager Mike Ybarra on Twitter.

A spokesperson informed Polygon that despite Staten’s new role meaning that he oversees all things that fall under the Microsoft Studios umbrella—including 343 Industries—he “is not working directly on the next Halo title.” The specifics of Staten’s duties have yet to be detailed, but one thing that will fall under the former Halo writer’s purview is “franchise strategy for some Microsoft Studios titles” and liaising with with the game development community.
