Longtime Bungie composer Martin O’Donnell was summarily terminated from his employment with the company at the end of last week, he revealed on Twitter.

Shortly after O’Donnell’s tweet, Bungie posted the following to their official website:

“For more than a decade, Marty O’Donnell filled our worlds with unforgettable sounds and soundtracks, and left an indelible mark on our fans. Today, as friends, we say goodbye. We know that wherever his journey takes him, he will always have a bright and hopeful future.

“We wish him luck in all his future endeavors.”

O’Donnell joined Bungie in 1998 to score Oni and went on to score Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach across his 16 years with the company. For Destiny, O’Donnell collaborated with Paul McCartney and Mike Salvatori on the game’s reveal trailer music as well as the main score itself.
