Hardware: Shipbreakers Becomes Canonical Entry Homeworld: Shipbreakers

Posted on September 6, 2013 AT 12:16pm

Hardware: Shipbreakers, Blackbird Interactive’s spiritual successor to Homeworld, is now known as Homeworld: Shipbreakers, and will be a proper installment in the series, Gearbox Software announced during PAX Prime this past weekend.

Shipbreakers is being developed by members of Relic Entertainmnet, the original Homeworld development studio. News of the new game comes not long after Gearbox obtained the Homeworld IP from THQ in April, during the bankruptcy auction, and revealed plans to release HD remakes of Homeworld 1 & 2.

Gearbox will be collaborating with Blackbird on the project, notably providing funding to allow the studio to create a proper entry and bolster their staff as necessary.
