Harmonix announces Chroma, a music and rhythm–based first-person shooter

Posted on February 17, 2014 AT 11:28am

Harmonix is merging first-person shooters with music & rhythm gameplay with Chroma, an upcoming free-to-play arena shooter being developed by the studio behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Details are a little sketchy at the moment, but we do know that Chroma will be free-to-play and class-based. Weapons will shoot beams that are also musical notes or sequences, operating as a team to create “musical moments” that can cause the arena’s landscape to alter.

Chroma is in closed alpha right now. Anyone interested in participating can sign up at the game’s official website. The musical first-person shooter is slated to launch on Steam later this year.
