THE BUZZ: Harmonix has announced a new Rock Band game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Rock Band Blitz ditches the plastic instruments in favor of a more Frequency style multi-lane set up. The game challenges players to keep every piece of the band in rhythm by switching between tracks.

Due out this summer, Rock Band Blitz will contain 25 songs in the game, and will be compatible with all Rock Band DLC.

EGM’s TAKE: Blitz is a bit of a departure from the usual set-up as only a controller will be required to play. This may put some people off as one of the major draws of the series is those plastic instruments and pretending to be a rock star. Hopefully the fast-paced gameplay will help convince players to give the game a shot. Fans of Frequency and Amplitude will love this game.
