Harmonix is bringing a new social app to the Rock Band franchise via Facebook. It’s a new service called Rock Band World, geared towards interacting with friends while racking up in-game currency and leaderboard rankings.

As highlighted in the announcement trailer, the service is compatible with two titles, Rock Band 3 and Rock Band Blitz, with the latter one releasing next week on PSN and Xbox Live Arcade.

There’s a bit of crossover with online gameplay features as well, since you can challenge friends and shop for music in the app rather than doing it through your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

Where Rock Band World differs the most is social goals, a form of achievements specifically for the Facebook app that can net you in-game coins for Rock Band Blitz. Observe the video below, or you can simply see the app right over here.
