THE BUZZ: Atlus sent out a rather cryptic email newsletter today–one which seems to hint at a much-anticipated upcoming announcement.

EGM’s TAKE: Upon receiving the email today, I first assumed what I was seeing was an error of some sort—the contents were nothing but a big, solid black box.

However, the folks over on internet message forum NeoGAF discovered something—by playing with the contrast, a hidden message appeared:

Now, being a huge Persona fan, I felt right away that this had some connection to Persona 4. Not only would the “stay tuned” line fit in with the television theme of the game, but there are currently two Persona 4 games as-yet-unannounced for US release: the Vita remake of Persona 4, and the Persona 4 2D fighting game created in conjunction with Arc System Works.

It didn’t take long for NeoGAF’s internet detectives to supply another piece of the puzzle: The logo for the Persona 4 fighting game, showing was could not be anything but an exact match of shapes between the logo and the teaser image.

So, while the announcement isn’t official, by all accounts it’s now safe to say that Persona 4 The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena will be coming to North America. Let’s be honest here, however—there was no way it wouldn’t be coming. The question of its announced release was always “when”, not “if”.
